Is Scary Strokes "Scary"?

Not for most. Our themeing was designed to be a FUN and "All Ages Appropriate" attraction. All of our wall murals, ghosts, ghouls, and monsters were done in a cartoon like presentation. If you have any questions on if Scary Strokes may be too scary for your young golfer, feel free to come visit us and take a look around first.

Does it cost to come inside and check out?

​

NO! Everyone is welcomed to come visit us at their convenience during normal operating hours. You only pay for the activities you choose to do.

How long does it take to play a round of golf?

 

We have 18 holes of Black Light golf set on approximately 5000 sq. feet. It typically takes 35 - 60 minutes depending on speed of play, skill levels, and size of group.

Can I schedule a tee time?

 

YES! We do offer online reservations for both our Mini-Golf and Virtual Reality Omni Arena. Please note however, that Birthday Parties and other Group events do take priority. Do I have to pay to walk through and watch my kids play?

 

Scary Strokes is a great family venue and we encourage the adults to play with the kids (they grow up fast). That said, Scary Strokes has a $3.50 Attraction Admission for anyone that wants to accompany golfers on the course.  All persons under 13 years of age must be supervised by an adult.

 

 

What is an appropriate age to play the miniature golf course?

 

Black light miniature golf is fun for all ages but we recommend ages 4 years or older.

Is a reservation required for a birthday party?

 

Yes, all birthday parties must be scheduled through Scary Strokes. You are always welcome to celebrate a birthday or special occasion with us by coming in to play golf as a group but outside food, drinks, cake, and presents are not permitted unless you have a reserved party time due to the limited sitting area, which is for our scheduled parties and walk-in traffic use.

How do I schedule a party?

 

You may book your party online through our website or just give us a call (301-705-7000) or email us (lroth@scarystrokes.com) to request a date.

Is a deposit required?

 

We require 50% of the total price to reserve your party. Deposits can be made by phone or online with a credit or debit card. The balance is due and payable at the end of your party. Deposits are fully refundable up to 7 days prior to the party date. Any cancellations within the 7 day period are non-refundable (no exceptions).

How many guests can I invite?

 

 

That is up to you. We just need to know approximately how many guests you are expecting so that we can staff appropriately. Some of our specialized party packages do have maximum limits which enable our Party Pros 100% interaction with the entire party.

 

 

Is the birthday child included in the number of kids for a birthday package?

 

Yes.

 

 

 

Is there an additional charge for siblings? 

 

Any sibling that participates in the party will be counted as part of the party.

 

 

 

What time should my guest and I arrive at the party?

 

We ask that your guests arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled party time to allow time for your party pro to get groups together and go over rules of play with your guests. Parties start playing the miniature golf typically 10-15 minutes after the scheduled party time to allow ample time for guests to arrive.

 

 

 

Does the party pro accompany us on the golf course?

 

Yes.  Your party pro will interact with all the attendees during the ENTIRE party and manage the flow of play. For larger parties, at our discretion, we may provide a party runner to help out.

 

 

 

What does the party pro do?

 

In addition to accompanying the party on the golf course, your party pro will set up your party area, serve pizza, drinks, and cake/cupcakes; help with opening gifts; and clean up after your party so that you can relax and enjoy the experience! That's not all! Our Party Pros will entertain the party guests with their own unique talents and provide that VIP treatment your child deserves on their special day. You're not just booking a room at Scary Strokes, you're booking an event! 

 

 

 

Can I use my own decorations and/or paper products for the party?

 

Yes, you may use your own decorations and/or paper products in the party area. We do not permit wall or ceiling decorations, silly string, confetti, or piñatas. Should you decide to use your own theme products, deliver them to us any time before your party time and we'll set everything up prior to your guests arrival.

Are gratuities (tips) appropriate?

 

Yes, tips are encouraged, but not mandatory or expected. Our Party Pros spend a great deal of time planning, preparing, and detailing each party specifically to each birthday honoree. This entire amount goes to your party host.

What do I need to bring to the party?

​

NOTHING! We provide plates, utensils, food, drinks etc.. Cakes are permitted if you wish to bring a birthday cake.

 

 

Can I bring other food and beverages to my party?

 

We're sorry but outside food is NOT permitted except for the birthday cake. Additional pizzas and drinks may be purchased. Please let us know prior to your party if you would like to order additional pizzas or if your guests have special dietary needs.

 

 

How long does the party last?

 

All party packages are scheduled for 2 hours. We focus on firm party times to help you with coordinating times for guest's drop-off & pickup times, as well as respecting the start time for parties scheduled to follow. Please be assured your party pro will keep your party "on course".

Is Scary Strokes for birthday parties only?

 

 

No, walk-in play is always welcome. We also welcome private parties, team building, fundraisers, field trips, church groups, and team parties. Please call to schedule your group event.

Can I take my birthday party group in to play?

 

You are always welcome to celebrate a birthday or special occasion with us by coming in to play golf as a group but outside food,drinks, cake, and presents are not permitted unless you have a reserved  party time due to the limited sitting area which is reserved for our scheduled parties and walk-in traffic. Please consider one of our party packages for use of our party rooms and extended time in Scary Strokes

 

 

 

Can I bring outside food in?

 

Outside food is not permitted.

 

 

 

Can I take pictures or videos?

 

Pictures and videoing are allowed but should not slow or interrupt play.

 

 

 

Can I bring my own putter and ball? 

 

Yes you can, please keep in mind it’s a black light course so your traditional putter and ball may be tough to see.
